Mummy MOT Assessment
The Mummy MOT® at Wolds Holistic Health
Specialist Postnatal Physiotherapy – Because You Deserve to Feel Strong, Supported and Whole Again
Whether you had your baby six weeks ago or six years ago, your postnatal body deserves expert care. The Mummy MOT® is a specialist postnatal assessment and rehabilitation programme designed by women’s health physiotherapists to help you recover, rebuild, and thrive – in body and in mind.
At Wolds Holistic Health, we believe that motherhood shouldn’t come at the cost of your wellbeing. The Mummy MOT is a vital first step in restoring confidence and function, tailored to your individual needs and delivered with compassion, clinical expertise, and whole-person care.
What is the Mummy MOT?
The Mummy MOT® is a comprehensive 75 minute postnatal physiotherapy assessment designed for women after both vaginal and caesarean births. It includes:
A detailed assessment of your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
Screening for prolapse, pelvic pain, or diastasis recti (tummy gap)
Analysis of posture, breathing patterns, and functional movement
Hands-on treatment, where needed
A personalised rehabilitation and exercise plan, tailored to your lifestyle and goals
It’s suitable for mums from 6 weeks postpartum to many years later. It’s never too late to seek help and support.
Why is it important?
During pregnancy and childbirth, your body goes through enormous changes. Muscles may weaken, posture shifts, and core stability can be affected — often leading to:• Leaking urine when coughing, laughing or exercising
• A feeling of heaviness or bulging (possible prolapse)
• Lower back, hip, or pelvic pain
• A tummy that never feels “quite right”
• Pain during intercourse
• Feeling “disconnected” from your body
These symptoms are common but not normal — and they’re certainly not something you just have to live with. The Mummy MOT can help you understand what’s going on, and put a clear plan in place to support recovery.
What makes our approach different?
At Wolds Holistic Health, we understand that postnatal recovery is not just physical — it’s emotional, mental, and deeply personal. Our Mummy MOT practitioners are not only specialist physiotherapists, but also experienced in:
Listening to your story with empathy
Supporting the whole woman, not just the symptom
Understanding the realities of motherhood – whether you’re juggling newborn sleep or school runs
Working collaboratively with our extended team (midwives, psychosexual therapists, menopause specialists, herbalists, lactation consultants, and more)
When should I book?
• Ideally, you can book in from 6 weeks postpartum, after your GP check
•. You can also attend at any stage postnatally – we regularly see mums years after birth who are still experiencing symptoms or just want to reconnect with their bodies.
What if I need to bring my baby?
We completely understand! Our clinics are baby-friendly, and many mums bring their babies along to their appointment. We’ll work around feeds, naps, and nappy changes. If you prefer to come alone, that’s absolutely fine too — whatever feels right for you.

Pregnancy MOT Assessment
Pregnancy and childbirth bring incredible changes to a woman's body, and it’s essential to take care of your physical health both during and after this transformative time. At Wolds Holistic Health, we offer a comprehensive Pregnancy and Birth MOT Assessment designed to assess your body through pregnancy and ensure that any discomfort or dysfunction is addressed early on.
Our Pregnancy and Birth MOT is a thorough assessment of your body, focusing on areas that can be affected by pregnancy and delivery, such as:
Pelvic floor function
Abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti)
Posture and alignment
Back, hip, and pelvic pain
Core strength and stability
Bladder and bowel control
Scar tissue (from C-sections or perineal tears)
Why Is It Important?
Many women experience symptoms like pelvic girdle pain, bladder leakage, or core weakness which can persist if left untreated. Our MOT helps identify any potential issues early on, allowing us to prevent or treat them with the most appropriate physiotherapy interventions. Whether you're at the end of your first trimester or further along in your pregnancy journey, taking care of your body is key to long-term health and well-being.
