As a Specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Helena caters for women through each unique life stage and can help you to manage the challenges that can arise in your body. Helena offers physiotherapy treatment for bladder and bowel symptoms and pelvic floor issues, including leakage and prolapse. These issues can occur at any life stage, but often present in pregnancy and the post partum period, and also during the menopausal stages. Helena also provides physiotherapy for pelvic pain syndromes. Pelvic pain can arise from many origins including following surgeries such as Caesareans, hysterectomies, prolapse repairs and intervention for endometriosis. Women’s Health Physiotherapy has been shown to be hugely effective in treating pelvic health issues, and Helena’s aim is to assist and empower women to live their lives free from restrictions of these conditions.
Women’s Health Physiotherapy
General Women’s Health Assessment
Expert, compassionate care for your pelvic health and overall wellbeing.
At Wolds Holistic Health, our general Women’s Health Assessment offers a comprehensive, one-to-one evaluation tailored to your unique concerns—whether you’re experiencing discomfort, changes after birth or menopause, or simply want to understand your pelvic health better.
Our experienced specialist physiotherapists create a safe, supportive space where we explore the full picture of your health and offer expert guidance on what’s normal, what’s common, and what can be improved with the right support.
What We Assess:
Our thorough, holistic assessment includes the following areas:
Pelvic Floor Function
We assess the strength, coordination, and tone of your pelvic floor muscles—key to controlling bladder and bowel function, supporting your organs, and maintaining core stability.
Bladder Health
We explore any symptoms such as urgency, frequency, leaking, or sensations of incomplete emptying, and identify patterns that may be contributing to urinary dysfunction.
Bowel Function
We sensitively discuss issues such as constipation, incomplete evacuation, bowel leakage, or difficulty controlling wind. Bowel health is often overlooked but has a huge impact on daily wellbeing. We are experts in managing bowel disease, including haemorrhoids and fissures.
Leakage (Bladder and Bowel)
Stress incontinence, urge incontinence, or accidental leakage of stool or gas can all be signs of underlying pelvic floor issues. We help identify causes and guide you towards effective treatment.
Endometriosis & Pelvic Pain
We offer skilled assessment of chronic pelvic pain, suspected or confirmed endometriosis, and other causes of discomfort including painful periods, pain with intercourse, or pelvic tension. We LISTEN to your story, validate your symptoms and work with you to manage your condition holistically.
Sexual Health & Function
Pain during or after intercourse (dyspareunia), reduced sensation, or psychological barriers to intimacy are all assessed with sensitivity and confidentiality. We believe that sexual health is a vital part of overall health.
Diastasis Recti (Tummy Muscle Separation)
Often missed in standard postnatal care, we assess the abdominal wall and core for diastasis recti (abdominal separation), weakness, or bulging, and guide you through safe recovery.
Pelvic Organ Prolapse
This is an area of SPECIAL INTEREST and advanced practice at Wolds Holistic Health. We provide experienced , detailed prolapse assessment—whether you’re noticing heaviness, bulging, or discomfort. We’ll discuss options including pelvic floor rehab, pessary fitting (if appropriate), and lifestyle support.

Its time we changed the narrative….
C Section Scar Treatment
At Wolds Holistic Health Physiotherapy, we offer specialised treatment for C-section scars. Our approach helps to reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance the appearance of scar tissue. Through tailored hands-on therapy, we work to break down adhesions, improve circulation, and promote healing. Whether you’re experiencing discomfort or looking to improve the flexibility of the scar area, we provide a personalised plan to support your recovery.
When Should You Start Scar Treatment?
Scar treatment can begin as soon as the wound is healed, typically 6 to 8 weeks post-surgery. However, even if your scar is older, our treatments can still help reduce discomfort, improve mobility, and enhance the appearance of the scar.
Benefits of Scar Treatment
Reduced pain, tightness, or discomfort around the scar
Improved mobility and flexibility in the surrounding tissues
Softer, more mobile scar tissue
Better posture and alignment
Reduced sensitivity or numbness
Enhanced overall recovery and well-being
